Medieval Towns and Villages of the Marche Region
From Porto Recanati, come and visit the Villages of the Marche Region Awarded with the Organge Flag
Life Hotel in Porto Recanati has an ideal location to reach many of the most beautiful places in the hinterland of the Marche Region. Here indeed there are medieval villages and fortresses perched on the hills, which are included in the municipalities awarded with the Orange Flag. Among the most beautiful ones there is Offagna, a village of medieval origins that stands out for its fortress within which today a museum of weapons is preserved and many temporary exhibitions are organized. Not to miss is the crescia, a local gastronomy product recalling a piadina.
Another hillside village, Montelupone, that preserves the castle walls, stone pavement and loggias of the fourteenth century. A small town with plenty of places to see, such as its churches and the romanesque abbey, the theatre, the Palazzo Comunale and the civic art gallery. The gastronomic product to savour is the artichoke, a Slowfood product, but also the Millefiori honey. Taking a stroll through these villages is like traveling back in time, thanks to the typical crenellated towers and the alleys where once there used to be ladies and knights.
